When’s the last time you said “I love you” to yourself?

“I Love You” – these three little words mean so much. They can make your chest feel warm, your stomach tickle, and sadness melt away.

Many of us say these words to our children and loved ones fairly often, and hopefully receive the expressed sentiment back in return.  However, here’s some food for thought…Have you ever said “I Love You”…to You?

As we all know, words have power.  For a statement that carries so much weight, why don’t we express love to ourselves in this way? Try saying it to yourself.

Give it a try.  Go look into your eyes in a mirror, and say it directly to yourself…”I love you!” Say it at least a few times out loud.  How does it feel?

Does it feel silly?

Does it make you smile?

Does it make you feel energized?

I calmly affirm…I love myself unconditionally!

It’s something I encourage you to do more often. I think it’s quite powerful and empowering. Expressing love for yourself creates a mindset of natural self-love and self-acceptance.

When getting ready in the morning, or before you go to sleep at night, state something about the day that you’re grateful for, and tell yourself you love you.  After all, self-love is so important…in both words and actions.

Many of our guided activity workbooks include a page for the phrase “I Love Myself” and the reasoning is clear. When you fully love yourself, it shows, and it allows you to then fully love others, while continuing to hold space for your own self-love.
